Am I eligible for this visa?

To be eligible for this visa your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival into China and have at least two blank visa pages.

As of 01/01/2026 all British passport holders will now be issued with a 2 year multiple entry visa as standard. This visa is valid for 2 years and permits multiple entries of up to 90 days at a time into China.

When applying with The Travel Visa Company you will not be required to attend the Chinese Visa Application Centre to provide biometrics. If you would like to attend the centre to submit your application in-person, we offer a separate service to pre-check and prepare all your documents. Additional Information

When do I need to send my passport?
Once we have completed your online registration with the Chinese Visa Application Centre we will contact you to request your passport. Please DO NOT send your physical passport until it is requested.

If you are, or are travelling with someone, under the age of 18, please contact us before applying as you may be required to provide additional documents.

If you plan to visit Tibet during your stay, please contact us for further assistance.

• COPY OF PASSPORT – A copy of the photograph/information page of your passport. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival in China and contain at least two blank pages.
  • COPY OF PREVIOUS CHINA VISA – If you have previously held a visa for China, please include a copy of each page in your passport with a Chinese visa.
  • PROOF OF RESIDENCE – If you are a non-UK national residing in the UK, you MUST provide your UK Immigration Share Code on the application form. This can be obtained at:
    www.gov.uk/view-prove-immigration-status
• PHOTOGRAPH – A passport-style photograph, this should be clear and against a white background. If the photo you submit is not suitable we may contact you to ask for another. Please note: this should not be a photograph of the picture in your passport, this should be a recent, separate photograph.
• TRAVEL ITINERARY – A copy of your hotel and flight booking confirmations or cruise itinerary. All itineraries MUST include ALL travellers’ names; hotel names and addresses for your entire stay in China with check in and check out dates and ALL flight confirmations.
  • INVITATION LETTER – If visiting family or friends in China, a letter of invitation is required including a copy of their Chinese ID Card or passport photograph page with a valid visa for China.
  • PROOF OF RELATION – If visiting family, please also provide proof of the relation, i.e. copy of marriage or birth certificate, which proves your relationship to one another.
• SELF DECLARATION LETTER – If you currently or have previously served in the military you are required to provide a self-declaration letter. The letter should state that you only wish to travel to China for tourism purposes and not for military purposes. This will need to be dated, signed and addressed directly to the Chinese Embassy. When providing us with a copy of your passport, please make sure you provide a clear scan/photo of the page which shows your information and photo. Do not crop out any details including the machine-readable strip that runs along the bottom of the page as shown below:
